Sloppy Joe Panini

Ok. Let’s talk paninis. We love them in our house and my Sloppy Joe Panini is a unique twist on a classic comfort food.

I have no idea if anyone else was raised on Sloppy Joes with mustard and pickles, but if you haven’t tried it you are so missing out.

My husband thought it was crazy so it may have just been my family. Seriously, Sloppy Joes, pickles, and mustard is a perfect match.

Anyways… I am about to hook you up with this awesome recipe that you don’t want to miss.

Sloppy Joe Panini Ingredients and Preparation

The “secret sauce” is in the homemade Sloppy Joe recipe. This is the base of these awesome Sloppy Joe Paninis and is so easy to make. Cook this up in a heavy pot.

After the Sloppy Joe sauce and meat is finished, layer the Sloppy Joe meat, pickles, mustard, and Swiss cheese on Ciabbata bread.

I am a huge fan of pickles and mustard.

Seriously… Give it a shot.

After getting your sandwiches all nice and fixed up, melt one tablespoon of butter in a hot cast iron skillet. As of right now, I am using a round cast iron skillet, but if you have a square cast iron griddle that would be even better.

Although I try to keep my kitchen appliances as minimal as possible, I am debating on investing in a panini press. I would love feedback if you have one that you absolutely love.

Back to cooking!

Since I do not currently have a panini press, I make do and use a smaller cast iron skillet to press the paninis.

I press them down pretty hard in order to flatten and then flip when the bottom is browned.

Cook thoroughly on each side.

Boom!

My skillet held three sandwiches, so two batches later, here is the final product.

There you have it. These paninis are a unique twist on a classic comfort food.

To complete your meal, Soy Sesame Roasted Asparagus is a perfect side dish for Sloppy Joes.
